Moon
Time is sacred.
Modern
western society has developed some misguided and negative views about menstruation. The Blood Mysteries, are now sadly
considered by many to be somehow shameful and dirty at worst, and an inconvenient medical problem at best. My message
to you is to feel no shame or embarrassment about menses on account of man or woman. Menses are not dirty, nor are they
shameful punishment for "sin". KNOW this and you will know true "girl power" and equality.
A period can be an uncomfortable,
extremely painful and sometimes frightening experience, but it is sacred, special and serves important purpose. It is
a gift, not a curse.
As we ‘give birth to ourselves' we are able to look inward and reflect upon our true selves and
the true nature of the world around us. Our heightened state of awareness focuses our psychic and creative abilities.
Our state of consciousness is taken up a level (towards the moon) while we bleed, whilst at the same time reconnecting us
via our blood with the Earth. Let flow. Grounding can take place if we are still enough to let it.
The wolf can help us in
quiet contemplation by the fire as we acknowledge our true power and abilities as women. Rest, retreat and reflect.
Look to wolf for wildness, inner sight, care and vision at this time. Wolf will ease distress, sooth upset, quieten
fears and dry tears. She offers peace in the darkness, watches over us, protects and enables dreamfilled sleep.
The sacred connection
between moon and earth is not lost after menopause - she can still follow and connect with the moon's cycle and she is
now rooted sufficiently to earth to keep her blood to nourish herself. She has given enough nourishment back to the
earth in the blood of her many cycles. And she now is able instead to offer the nourishment of her experience, knowledge,
passion and wisdom to the universe.
The Moon Lodge
and Moon Time Journal
The Moon Lodge is where women
can retreat, meet, share their wisdom, experience and dream in sacred space during their Moon Time. This may seem like
a strange idea to many Westerners but this was common practice in native and ancient cultures.
Why not start a Moon Time journal? This is a journal or scrap book for you to record your
dreams, meditations, thoughts and creative inspiration during your Moon Time. Below are some extracts from mine.
